Zoe Kravitz Missed Out On The Dark Knight Rises Audition For THIS Ridiculous And Racist Reason?!
We absolutely CAN”T believe it!
In film, actors can miss out on parts because they don’t quite “fit” the vision or there’s just something that’s just off.
Apparently that was the case with Zoe Kravitz — well that and little more!
Zoe was actually shut out of an audition for The Dark Knight Rises because of her ethnicity!!
If there are EVER any stupid reasons to not cast someone in a particular role, race is probably pretty high on that list — unless it’s something historical since we don’t really see Tom Hanks as a fit for Malcolm X!
Kravitz recalls her involvement and her being passed up for an audition in the most recent Batman movie:
“In the last Batman movie, they told me that I couldn’t get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren’t going urban. It was like, ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on wit chu?'”
Kravitz went on to talk about roles she wants to play and her worry about being typecast in films!
“I don’t want to play everyone’s best friend. I don’t want to play the role of a girl struggling in the ghetto. It’s not that that story isn’t important, but I saw patterns and was like, ‘I don’t relate to these people.'”
Though this is just one side of the story and perhaps we don’t have all the facts, it still sounds absurd and awful! We hope it’s experiences and stories like this that will help to make a change in the traditional thinking of Hollywood!
