Zoe Saldana isn’t going to let the man keep her down!
The Star Trek star says gender inequality is unfortunately still going strong in Hollywood, but frankly she ain’t got time for that! She says:
“It’s very hard being a woman in a man’s world, and I recognized it was a man’s world even when I was a kid.
It’s an inequality and injustice that drove me crazy, and which I always spoke out against – and I’ve always been outspoken.”
That drive to fight inequality has fueled a lot of Zoe’s film choices over the years, leading her to kick-ass girl roles in Colombiana, Avatar, and the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Playing all those powerful women is NOT an accident! Zoe says:
“I’m known for being selective in parts I either pick or pursue, and what matters most is that they be good female roles where the character isn’t cardboard or objectified, and where there’s real substance. No generic girlfriend or wife, and no sexy bombshell. Enough of that already!”
Hells yeah, gurl! Time for the ladies to take the lead!
Now if only we could get some more Zoe Saldanas into politics…
