On Monday, it was revealed that Zooey Deschanel converted to Judaism for her husband Jacob Pechenik. Wow!
This is kind of a big deal for the New Girl actress as in the past she’s avoided labeling herself as one faith in particular — despite the fact that her mother is Roman Catholic and her father is a Quaker.

In a previous interview, Miz Deschanel noted:
“I don’t attach myself to any one religion. My family is liberal. I was raised in the ├óΓé¼╦£you can be whatever you want’ kind of way. And in the end, I was like, ‘Eh.'”
However, it now appears that since meeting her man and giving birth to their daughter Elsie Otter, the brunette beauty’s decided to change her tune.
An insider shared:
“Zooey con├é┬¡verted to Judaism for Jacob.”
That’s AH-Mazing! We’re not super surprised that the 500 Days Of Summer star made this grand gesture for the producer as she seems to be enjoying her role as a new mom and wife.
Another source revealed:
“They’re loving the baby and marriage!”
LOVES it. Zooey really seems to have met her adorkable match in Jacob — especially after she revealed why she and her husband gave their tiny tot such an unusual name.
She explained:
“We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters, they’re very sweet and they’re also smart. They use tools…they hold hands while they sleep…They’re wonderful animals.”
