Filed under: Sad SadA soulless man, Karthik Rajaram, in an upscale Los Angeles suburb killed his family - wife, three children and mother-in-law - then took his life because he thought that was the honorable thing to do after he became despondent over his crumbling financial situation.
So horrible!

The same thing happened in a wealthy section of Philadelphia about 15 or 20 years ago. The husband/father lost his money in a bad investment, and he killed his wife and children, and then himself. Pretty frickin' twisted.

That's not soulless, that's an actual psychological disorder. The man of a family finally snaps under the stress of having to provide for them. He feels he is solely responsible for their survival, that they can't survive without him and if he's failed as their provider then there's nothing left for any of them. They do NOT do it out of viciousness, they do it, rather, out of an unbalanced concept of responsibility and love. It's happened quite a few times; see John List, etc.
And this is the culture whose religion preaches that they should run the world. NICE. It's honorable to murder your wife, children and mother-in-law? Yeah right. We really need that system worldwide. NOT! For God's sake, let your women have equal rights, an education and a job. Two incomes definitely take the pressure off.

Right on. First of all, this dude was Indian (Hindu btw ), and the Muslim religion does not preach killing your family in the name of honor. This guy was obviously sick and desperate. For some reason he thought this was a viable option because he didn't want his family to live with the shame of him being a failure. Oh, and you CAN collect life insurance money if the policy holder commits suicide. With most policies, it's two years after the policy is initiated.

Hey so I didn't know them personally, but my roommate & her family had been really close family friends w/ them forever. Her family is helping to deal w/ the aftermath. So sad and tragic :'(

I don't know if I'd call his suicide "honorable", but it was certainly the right thing for him to do after killing his family. Saved law enforcement a lot of time and money.
