Laura Bush To Pen Memoir, One-Ups W.
Looks like Laura Bush will beat her husband in publishing a book. The first lady is already in talks with different publishers who are bidding on her memoir.
Mrs. Bush will disclose details about her family life during her stay in the White House.
As for Prez George Bush, it seems everyone is hoping his popularity will increase over time so he's going to wait about five years longer before he publishes his book.
Good luck with that! It will be a looooong wait.
Leading British literary agent Andrew Lownie says, "The Blairs pioneered this strategy and it is a great way of testing the waters. Mrs Bush is clearly a lot more popular than her husband at the moment and this is a way of serving up a story in a way that is palatable to the public. Also, of course, the public tend to mellow in their attitude to even the most hated political leaders over time."
Mort Janklow, who represented Ronald Reagan, said: "The wives of presidents generally write books that have a greater public interest. Wives usually write from a personal point of view - instead of talking about government policy, they talk about when the dog came to the White House and had to be paper-trained. Husbands usually try to rewrite history."
But according to Janklow, George should wait a bit longer to publish his memoir. He joked, "30 or 40 years might be good."
And there's a lot of money to be made in presidential memoirs.
Bill Clinton made $30 million from the sales of My Life and his follow-up, Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World. As for Hillary Clinton, she brought in at least $8 million for Living History.
Wonder how much money people will spend on Laura.

Ok, time for you folks to GO!!!
Not one fucking dime would I spend on this old hags book.
Honkey tonk! When's the "HO" down?
to be honest, that dress does nothing for her hawt figure.
One of the most uninteresting first ladies in a long time.
She is a lovely woman and I look forward to her book. A much better first lady than Mrs. Hussein Obama
don't wan't to read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it will be a white washed version of the twins and her husband's tragic eight years in the WH.
It will be a blather of mayonnaise on white bread.
Everyone love everyone, blah, blah. Nothing about the booing from jobless, homeless citizens. Nothing about all the dead and mangled people of Iraq.
Laura is a very good person, humanistic in her views and a humanitarian. Cheers to her!
this was the MOST invisable First Lady EVER….what did she do to raise social awareness effecting her people…did she EVER visit grieving mothers who lost their son's to that senseless war in Iraq????? Did she encourage the dispirited american people….NEVER!!!! SHE WAS AN INVISABLE FIRST LADY AND SHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED…all she did was write a book about a fuckin' duck!!! FOR SHAME!!!
I like her, probably the only Republican that I DO like. But unless she "goes rogue" and tells the truth about their marriage falling apart and Dubya's newly falling off the wagon, it will be a SNORE….ZZZZZZZZZ!
If W is going to write a book he'd better check first to see if they accept manuscripts written in crayon
Laura Bush is one of the best first lady's this country has ever seen, and most American's don't even realize.
She's not as conservative as her husband, FYI to all you Bush Bashers.
She's done amazing work in the past 8 years and I am very sad to see her leave!
Miss Laura is the epitome of Class and refinement.

President Bush should wait, smart man.

Laura Bush is a lady- leave her alone.she was so nicely cheery in a TV interview in pre 2001 and then she went quiet and has been more or less ever since.Loyal, loyal and loyal.
.
.
I WONDER IF SHE'LL HONOR THE MEMORY OF THE TEENAGER SHE KILLED WHILE DRIVING IRRESPONSIBLY WHEN SHE WAS ONE HERSELF?
.
A very classy lady. Nothing bad has been said about her by people who know her.
Re: Padmasana – #13.

OR ETCH-A-SKETCH, DARLING.
.
Is she going to write about the fatal car accident that she was in, in which she was driving one of the vehicles?
Re: charmoll – You're clearly an idiot. Your statement was ignorant on so many levels, I'm not even going to bother explaining why. Hope your trailer's holding up well this time of year.
That aside, I'm sorry, but Laura Bush is probably one of the most forgettable women in history.
.
BLANDER THAN TOFU WITHOUT SOY.
.
Love her. Nuff said.
Re: thatsnotfab – How come anyone who says anything against either of the obama's you cornballs say they live in a trailer? That's stupid, you know.
anyone else notice how huuuuuge Michelle Obama looked when photographed next to Laura Bush when they met yesterday?
Laura Bush is the true definition of class, poise and she is so genuine. I will definitly buy her book!

not one FUCKIN' penny…..her shithead husband has screwed this country over and I won't give a damn dime to that joker-lookin' bitch.
I didn't know the first lady wrote fiction.
Who cares about the old hag? I wonder if she'll put in the part about the vehicular manslaughter she pulled years ago.
Oh and #7 - screw you loser.
Re: Toonkinstein –
You need to go back and look again. BOTH Laura Bush and President Bush personally visited some Mother's of fallen troops, Mrs. Bush also visited military hospitals and wrote letters to solidiers family. EVER stop to think that the media didn't follow Mrs. Bush around because they didn't want you to see her efforts…you got it. She was a huge supporter of education and literacy and was out giving speeches in that regard. She also went overseas and visited hospitals and went to give humanitarian aid. She has been a class act first lady who the media chose to ignore, doesn't mean she wasn't out doing good, just nobody wanted you to see it. Trust me, if Mrs. Obama give a piece of gum to a homeless man it will be on the the six oclock news and make all the major papers.
Laura Bush is a class act and I will buy the book. She has been one of the best first lady's we've ever had. She's a smart, classy woman who has given a lot of time to charity while in office, and a lot of her work was never broadcast by the ever-bias media.
even though bush might have not been the BEST president.. i am so excited for this!! i cant wait to hear what she has to say! yay! =)
ps-i'd like to add.. that although, i did not vote for Obama.. i support him as our new US president & hope he can make changes for us in the future! god bless our amazing country. xoxo
