She is suing for defamation of character, but as i recall her name was never used during Imus' unfortunate attempt at comedy. He addressesd the team as a whole. How can her character be defamed if nobody knew who she was prior to or after the controversy (outside of friends, family, and fans of the team)? If I had run into her on the street right after Imus' remarks I would not have known who she was - months later I still would not. This is an attempt at a money grab, and hopefully the justice system will get it right and throw it out.

The real difference- No, these girls did not ask for it, but the woman who is suing Imus, i'm sure did not suffer any more than the other women from the team did. It's not like people in her school are agreeing with Imus, and using disparaging remarks to her face. If they are, the problem is with the school and the people in it, not with Don Imus. It's not his fault that people are (if they are, that is) are being nasty and racist to her face. I'm sure most of the schools population is on her side with all this, and I'd hope they are not pushing her to sue him. In the end it makes her look very greedy, and out for the money, especially when none of the other girls are suing….
