Drinking Sewage Water

conservespan600.jpg

Orange County is getting Twocupped! For real!

The Magic Kingdom's residents will soon be drinking water that was mingled with their peepoo.

The O.C. is one of the first county's in the U.S. to implement an intense new water purification program that will take the water from your toilet to your tap.

Reusable water, taking conservation to the next levels.

The intense process to purify the sewage into drinking water includes a hard scrubbing with filters, screens, chemicals and ultraviolet light and the passage of time underground.

It may even taste better than regular tap water!

Drought-plagued Georgia should look into this!

Thanks Dude for covering this!It is SOOOOOO awesome! Did you know the water is so pure after the process that they have to put minerals back in it to be able to transport it through the pipes? The web site for it is www.gwrsystem.com.

You might want to clarify that it's Orange County, California. Most people assume that, but I live in Orange County, Florida (which is consists mostly of Orlando) right next to Disney World Magic Kingdom. So I thought it affected me!

I think georgia, or anywhere located in that embarrassment known as the south, has enough problems without drinking their own excrement.
    .

  54. PerezSux says – reply to this

    54

Orange County California is a very rich area and they can afford a high local tax hike to pay for such an expensive water purification system. Georgia, on the other hand is not Orange County, Thank God! I love Georgia but could drop the OC off the map and be fine.

  55. perezsux says – reply to this

    55

Agnacious, where are you from? I'm from Georgia and I think that was really rude of you to say. You don't know everyone from the South and yet you are completely crude in your comments. What happened to being open-minded?

oh, and to that guy in post #39: If you actually could read well, you would see that perez isn't making fun of Georgia, just making a suggestion. i love how people like you HATE him so much yet you can't pull yourself away from checking HIS blog every day……hypocrite!

also, for all of you screaming "ewwww": when i saw the headline, i said that myself, but unlike most of you, i actually have a brain and read the WHOLE thing, and anyone that has been through elementary school could tell you that the tap water you drink in any town or city usually comes from a treatment plant where sewage is cleaned up, strained, purified, and chlorined. so, yeah, say "ewwww" all you want while you drink down your treated water…..

The same water has been doing the rounds since Earth formed!! That's the water cycle.

Technology is what allows you fools to read about Britney and Paris. It's super clever stuff. Also cleans water like a dream. Keeps those astronauts hydrated while in space. Yes, they drink the same water over and over again!

I live in Irvine, it's nothing new actually. We use reclaim water to water lawns and such which increases drinking water for drinking.

Besides the purification process is so intense that it can become distilled, but isn't since we really don't need to have very clean water to use it.

    91

This has been going on for a very long time. Orange County has been pumping re-used water back into the aquifers for years because of how deep they are. Also, they have to do it because they are so close to the sea and the salt water can easily get into their wells.

This is such a great idea! Weird, but good. After nearly a century of So. Cal relying on H2O from the rest of CA and destroying massive parts of the state (Owens Valley and Mono Lake for example), it's about time that the water dept. does this.

While they are the first to use this exact system, there are other systems used throughout the country that currently do this. It is standard to reuse sewage water called "grey water" although the amount reused varies.

So the people grossed out by this need to know they are already drinking re-purified water.

  97. Andrew says – reply to this

    97

    Perez,

Just so you know the New York Times article explicitly stated that this water is NOT going directly to tap. It is being pumped underground to prevent ocean-water from adulterating the groundwater. People in California will NOT be drinking clean toilet water.
