Exhilarating and inspiring are the two best words to describe Newsies the musical, now playing on Broadway!
And, it was a real treat to watch the star-making performance by Jeremy Jordan as the lead in the show on Sunday!
We weren't quite sure what to expect when we went into the theater. It could have gone many different ways. But we were thankfully super entertained and satisfied!
Oftentimes, shows about and geared towards younger audiences come across as too angst-ridden or one-dimensional, but Newsies is an uplifting show that does NOT come across as preachy. AND, even though the story is set over a century ago, the show felt super current! Occupy Broadway!
The music is awesome. The staging was great. The choreography was INSPIRED! And the whole cast was excellent. Not one bad performance!
And Jeremy Jordan truly was a pleasure to watch. He gave a virtuoso performance! He reminds us of Sutton Foster in that he can sing, dance and act with equal ease. He was born for musical theater! Plus, he's very dreamy!
Newsies is a must MUST see!
Check out one of the shows show-stopping numbers above!
We caught Nick Jonas in How To Succeed on Sunday and it was great seeing him on Broadway!
We had previously seen Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role. While he lacks the vocal ability of Jonas, Radcliffe made up for it with gumption! We preferred Dan's interpretation over Nick's, but the real star and surprise of the show was Michael Urie!
The Ugly Betty star shined, bringing vocal chops and brilliant comic ability! Plus, what was so refreshing about Urie is that he made so many NEW and bold choices! He wasn't just replacing an actor and doing a carbon copy of his interpretation.
Tammy Blanchard was even more enjoyable the second time around. And Beau Bridges was adequate.
Overall, it was fun and well worth the repeat viewing! However, we do wish we could have seen Darren Criss to have been able to compare the three interpretations!
Direct from Vegas, we hightailed it over to Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday and we took our little brother, MattyB.
Awards shows aren't as glamorous in person as they are on TV, but it was such a special experience to see the newness and enjoyment wash all over MattyB.
Plus he had so many fans asking for his autograph!
It was a really fun and special time!
He was really hoping we'd get slimed. We were glad we didn't! That Ben Sherman outfit was too stylin' too mess up!
The Vampire Diaries actress and multitalented singer/dancer/songwriter has been making music for a long time now, but the instantly catchy Put Your Graffiti On Me shows growth and a new sonic direction for Graham!
Kat's new sound is less dance and gay than her previous efforts and it is more rhythmic meets Top 40 - with edge! It's fresh beats paired with pop melodies!
The percussion-heavy Put Your Graffiti On Me reminds us of the best of Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani and Lose Your Breath by Destiny's Child!
And speaking of Destiny's Child, the super sexy and colorful music video was choreographed by Beyonce's choreographer, Sheryl Murakami.
Some sneaky sis (or bro!) took a little behind-the-scenes video of Madonna's MDNA tour rehearsal in Tel Aviv this weekend and has shared some incredible footage!
Part of Madge's setlist is her iconic homage to self-love, Express Yourself, but in her 2012 version, she is spicing it up by mashing it with Lady GaGa's similar anthem, Born This Way.
Yeah, you're not going to want to miss this!
Ch-ch-check out the video (above) to hear Madonna sing BOTH Express Yourself and Born This Way!
