This is completely tragic.

It's being reported that two NYPD police officers were shot in Brooklyn at around 3pm on Saturday, in what one law enforcement source called "an execution." The shooting took place near the Tompkins Houses apartment buildings at Myrtle and Tompkins Avenues. Both officers have reportedly died.

The gunman reportedly was "pumping bullets" into their patrol car, which they were sitting in. The gunman then ran to a nearby subway station, where he was shot and killed. It's not clear if the police shot him or if he killed himself.

A high-ranking police official said:

"The perp came out of the houses, walked up behind the car and lit them up."

This is a completely tragic situation. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of these officers.

Sony and The Interview aren't the only movie-related topics making headlines this week.

That's because the parents of the man who is accused of shooting up the Aurora, CO, movie theater during the Dark Knight Rises premiere have decided what they want for their son.

Robert and Arlene Holmes believe that their 27-year-old son should be institutionalized for the rest of his life because they say his crime was an act of insanity.
