While it’s amazing that Kim is giving the money to a church, couldn’t she have chosen an organization in a city where families don’t make $110,257 on average?
Helen Gurley Brown, the former editor of Cosmo and bestselling author of Sex and the Single Girl, has gifted the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and Stanford’s School of Engineering a whopping $30 million.
The two schools set aside $24 million of the donation to be used to endow a professorship, and to award grants and fellowships. The joint program will be named after Brown and her late husband, David Brown, who attended both schools.
The remaining $6 million will be used to construct a state-of-the-art newsroom in the Columbia journalism school building.
Earlier this week we told you about the 23-year-old model and blogger who lost her left hand and sustained major injuries after getting too close to an airplane propeller this past weekend.
Thankfully a few days later she was slowly starting to talk again to the staff and to her family.
Now we find out she’s walking! An update on her site reveals:
This morning, Lauren experienced a victory!
Earlier, the physical therapist assisted Lauren in walking for the first time. Once she got halfway there, she said, "30". Not sure what she meant, Jeff, Cheryl, and Brittany asked her what that means, she replied, "Steps!" What a praise, she was counting every step that she took!
The left eye is still non-responsive, the doctors will continue monitoring it for the next few days. Also, please pray her Lauren as she begins to learn the extent of her injuries and continue to pray away all infections.”
If you’d like to help Lauren and facilitate with her medical bills and rehab, her family is taking donations.

Jackie Genovese, a 16-year-old sophomore from New Jersey, was planning on attending prom with her 17-year-old boyfriend of two years, James Volpe.
Jackie purchased a pricey $1,200 prom dress from Freehold's Diane and Co., popular from Oxygens show Dress Coutoure.
Unfortunately for all involved, James was killed in a car crash on May 13th heading home from a baseball team dinner. Jackies mom went back to the store and requested a refund so she could help pay for the funeral.
Instead, the stores policies dont offer refunds, but they did offer her store credit which wasnt good enough for Jackies mom. Furthermore, she claims when she arrived to return the dress, they were nasty and unsympathetic.
As for the store, they deny ever being rude and stated:
This terrible tragic situation has been spun out of control. It's not a matter of being vicious or uncompassionate, but we are faced with tragedy all the time. And we weren't given a chance to rectify the situation."
The store also offered to make a donation to a memorial set up in James' name, though that wasn't good enough for one friend who started a Facebook page asking for everyone to boycott the store.
We understand the circumstances are awful, but really, theres no way for the store to know if the dress was worn before or not. And while we hope many people wouldnt do this, but whats to stop other people from going and fabricating a death story to get a full refund?
