Madagascar 3 Will Premiere At Cannes

madagascar-3-permeiere-at-cannes.jpg

Looks like Madagascar 3 will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

So far, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom is the only officially announced film as the Festival's opener.

Madagascar 3's Cannes debut is expected to be announced soon.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted was described by IMDB as:

"Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent - Madagascar style."

Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks, is a huge fan of Cannes and loves to do international junkets there, even if his film isn't in the festival.

The movie features the whole original cast returning, but also has Bryan Cranston, Martin Short and Jessica Chastain as new characters.

Sounds like a great film full of cute digital animals and talented actors!

Dreamworks and Global Creatures are bringing How To Train Your Dragon to life.

Well, sort of.

Melbourne will host the world premiere of a giant arena show based on the hit flick.

The flick’s executive producer Tim Johnson, revealed:

"We live in the world of computer animation… to come to the world of theatre, where things come alive in front of you, where the tool set is so exciting and so vibrant has been an extraordinary experience. It's so much larger than what we as filmmakers ever get to do."

The How To Train Your Dragon: Arena Spectacular will open next March in Melbourne before going to Sydney and Brisbane and finally going on a world tour.

Dreamworks Animator Pleads "Not Guilty" For Fatal Dog Beating

shrek animator pleads not guilty

So Sad.

A visual effects artist who worked on several Dreamworks films, including Shrek, faces more than 4 years in prison — after he was allegedly caught on tape beating his neighbor's puppy to death … with a hammer.

According to our source, Young Song — who also worked on Kung Fu Panda, Shark Tale, and Madagascar 2 — allegedly entered his neighbor's backyard last week … and shot their 16-month-old German shepherd with a pellet gun, before beating it to death with a hammer.

According to the puppy's owner the act was caught on surveillance video.

Song pled "not guilty" today to one felony count of cruelty to an animal, and one count of misdemeanor petty theft of a dog … after he allegedly dragged the mutilated corpse from his neighbor's yard.

Song was arrested yesterday and bail was set at $40,000. He is still in custody. His next court date is May 26.

Madagascar Penguins Get Their Own Spinoff Movie

Madagascar Penguins

Rejoice Penguin lovers!

Move over Happy Feet penguins — Skipper, Kowalski, Private and Rico are the new waddling stars of the big screen.

The Madagascar Penguins are set to star in their very own DreamWorks feature film.

The four paramilitary avians from Antarctica are secondary but scene-stealing characters in the Madagascar movies (the third of which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2012).

In a sign of the foursome's fanning fashionability, when the first movie hit Blu-ray, The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper, an animated short featuring the penguins, was one of the extras.

The characters were also spun off in a CGI-animated TV show titled The Penguins of Madagascar that aired on Nickelodeon; it finished 2010 as the second most-watched animated show behind SpongeBob SquarePants amongst ages 2-11.

We can't wait to see it — but we're gonna have to (they just started writing it).

Robert Downey Jr. To Voice Mister Peabody

Robert Downey Jr. to voice Mister Peabody

We like this casting news!

Robert Downey Jr. is set to voice the time traveling cartoon canine Mister Peabody in Dreamworks' big screen adaptation of Peabody's Improbably History, based on characters from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

The short segment that aired in the 1950's and 60's revolved around Mister Peabody showing his pet boy Sherman through history using his time machine.

We LOVE this directing news too!

Rob Minkoff, the director of The Lion King, will be directing.

We're so EXCITED!

The Lion King is one of the greatest animated films ever made and Robert Downey Jr.'s voice is perfect for the role!

We're definitely looking forward to this one hitting theaters in 2014.
