Fly, Eagles, Fly!!!

Philadelphia is known for its cheese steaks, but PETA has named the Eagles' Lincoln Financial Field the top NFL Vegetarian Friendly stadium.

This is the THIRD year in a row the Linc has taken home the top honor, but the food (or the team!) isn't the only green thing about the stadium.

Michael Vick: I Miss My Dogs

Michael Vick misses his dogs

Aw, poor Michael Vick.

The ex-animal torturer and current Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is bitching about not being allowed to own a dog.

Vick told GQ Magazine:

“I miss dogs, man. I always had a family pet, always had a dog growing up. It was almost equivalent to the prison sentence, having something taken away from me for three years. I want a dog just for the sake of my kids, but also me. I miss my companions.”

We have little (actually less than little) sympathy the asshole person who personally hanged or drowned seven dogs.

Luckily for the dog community, Vick can't legally own a dog until his probation is up in late 2012.

What a shame.

Michael Vick Takes Anti-Dogfighting Message To Congress

Michael Vick Takes Anti-Dogfighting Message To Congress

Hopefully this is sincere and not a good-will publicity stunt!

Tuesday, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick brought his anti-dogfighting message to Congress bout backing legislation that would penalize those who knowingly attend animal fights and allow minors to attend.

Vick, who served 18 months in prison on dogfighting charges, said he wants to teach kids not to repeat his mistakes and to take profits away from sponsors of these events.

"Help us to reach out to these kids before they go down the wrong path.t's up to the parents to take responsibility and make sure it doesn't happen."

The football star has been speaking at churches and schools along withWayne Pacelle, president and chief executive officer of the Humane Society of the United States.

Pacelle told the news conference, "I had a lot of soul searching to do" before deciding to partner with Vick in efforts to stop animal fighting events.

We don't blame him!

Poodle Drops From The Sky In Canada

Poodle Drops From The Sky In Canada

Um… WHAT?

A tiny poodle survived a horrific fall after crash landing on the yard of a nursing home in Canada.

The dog was taken into the sky by an eagle trying to eat it. The dog (named May) must have fought it's way out of the bird's claws before taking the dive.

Doctors suspect May, who is about six years old, was a stray because her nails were overgrown and her teeth were severely decayed.

"We don’t know how long she had been wandering without care but she was obviously very neglected. It’s ironic, but this bird may have saved her life,"

British Columbia Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals manager Shannon Broderick said in a statement.

In other news: Who knew that eagles were so badass?

Eaglet to Hatch Soon on Live Webcam

Watch eaglet born live

No privacy for this mom!

Thousands tuned in as two baby bald eagles hatched live on webcam in Decoarh, Iowa, over the weekend.

But if you missed it, you can still SEE a third eaglet hatch, probably within the next 48 hours.

The first eaglet emerged shortly after 6 a.m. local time on Apr. 2, and the second hatched just after 5 a.m. on Apr. 3. The streaming video attracted more than 100,000 viewers over the weekend, so many that the site crashed for about two hours on Saturday morning.

Because the third egg was laid four days after the second, it is expected to hatch sometime in the next few days.

The proud parents have been busy keeping the chicks and their unborn sibling warm, and ripping the flesh off muskrats and other prey to feed to the nestlings. Mmmm…. delicious(ish).

When they hatched, the eaglets were covered with a uniform, light-colored down. At about 9 to 11 days old, the down will be replaced by a darker, medium-gray second down.

But don't worry, they'll still be adorable.
