In Shaq's memoir, he actually admits to once threatening to kill his ex-teammate Kobe Bryant. It all happened right around Kobe was handling the rape allegations.
Here's what Shaq said:
"Just before the start of the '03-'04 season, the coaching staff called us in and said, 'No more public sparring or you'll get fined.'… Phil was tired of it. Karl Malone and Gary Payton were sick of it. So what happens? Immediately after that Kobe runs right out to Jim Gray and does this interview where he lets me have it. He said I was fat and out of shape. He said I was milking my toe injury for more time off, and the injury wasn't even that serious. I let the guys know, 'I'm going to kill him.
"Everything was starting to calm down when I told Kobe, 'If you ever say anything like what you said ever again, I will kill you.'"
Wow, that's pretty candid. Kobe was upset because Shaq didn't stand behind him during the allegations. Shaq was upset by the things he said and the fact that he didn't invite his teammates to his wedding. And it all just came flowing out.
The question is, though: did he mean it??

Endemol, an international production company based in the Netherlands, is creating a web-series centered on Kobe Bryant called Dream Makers: Kobe Bryant.
The series will be set at the Kobe Bryant Basketball Academy, a progressive organization where Filipino boys and girls can learn to play basketball as well as participate in other activities with Kobe himself.
Dream Makers is already set up for an eight-webisode run in the Phillippines that will end with a one-hour TV special.
We’re excited about this! Kids put so much stock in professional athletes that it’s great to see them give back.
