At least she realizes that she’s not ready to have a kid yet!
Last month, we were pret-ty uncomfortable while watching an interview (above) with 51-year old actor Doug Hutchison and his new 16-year-old wife Courtney Stodden.
After watching that interview, it was VERY clear to us that this teenager is NOT ready to be a mother, and fortunately she seems to understand that…at least for now.
Here’s what Courtney’s mother Krista Stodden had to say about her daughter’s decision to wait a while before having a child:
“She’s making sure as much as she can at this time that it isn’t happening.”
“She’s on birth control because she would prefer to wait for children. I think Doug would love to have children, but Courtney wants to wait a few years. Courtney wants to work on her career.”
And here’s Courtney’s mother on the possibility of an accidental pregnancy:
“If something happens we do not believe in abortion, so if God blesses them that would be ok, but they’re not trying for a baby now.”
“The baby would be so creative. Doug is brilliant, so creative and they both would pass on so many creative genes.”
Ugh. It’s very disturbing to us that Courtney’s mother seems to be supportive ON ANY LEVEL of the possibility of her 16-year-old daughter having a baby.
If she is going to have sex with her 51-year-old husband, then we’re glad that she’s using birth control, but we REALLY hope she doesn’t slip up. She’s too young to be a mother, and from everything we’ve heard so far, we don’t think she’s mature enough at this point to handle the responsibilities.
…Then again, who is mature enough to be a mother at 16??? Such a sad, disturbing situation that she’s put herself into.
We truly hope everything works out for her and we wish her well…but we’re definitely nervous.
