With a new album coming out, Eminem is coming clean about what the music on this disc means to him and how the word Recovery is more than just a title.
While at the E3 video game convention, Eminem talked to Showbiz Tonight about his fight with addiction. He opened up about overdosing and being “hours away” from death. However, the hardest part for him, through it all, was acknowledging he had a problem:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt took me awhile to admit I actually did have a problem,” the musician said. “In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you’re weak. But if I didn’t admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die.”
And though he managed to bounce back and get clean, he admits he isn’t quite sure how to advise other artists in the business to do the same. He says:
├óΓé¼┼ôThat’s a tough question. I don’t know how you avoid it. I mean, I could say the cliched things, make sure you stay on the right path, you make the right decisions in life. You know, fame is a funny thing, man, especially, you know, actors, musicians, rappers, rock singers, it’s kind of a lifestyle and it’s easy to get caught up in it – you go to bars, you go to clubs, everyone’s doing a certain thing… It’s tough.”
We’re sure it was tough, but it’s almost nice to see someone come back from this kind of thing. Gives hope to those still fighting through their demons.
Stay strong, bb! We don’t want the next album to be called Relapse.
