Though we’re sure a lot of you Office fans would consider him the best candidate, Ricky Gervais has announced via his blog that he won’t be replacing Steve Carell on the show.
Speculation has been swirling all over the place since Steve announced his departure, but while he won’t offer up his thoughts on who might replace Steve, the creator of the original British version is adamant to tell you it ain’t going to be him. Ricky wrote
“I’m not taking over from Steve Carell and will just continue to make millions for doing fuck all because I created the show and all the characters, and own the format and it’s being syndicated now and I get paid every time any episode of any version is played anywhere in the world… and I don’t want to go back to that and get up at 6am every day of the week for 7 years.”
Yeah, why work when you don’t have to! (Lucky bastard!)
