Charlie Kirk's Last Words Were About Gun Violence Just Seconds Before His Death

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

Charlie Kirk‘s final words, spoken seconds before he was shot, had to do with gun violence.

The conservative influencer who was well known for founding the right-wing organization Turning Point USA was shot and killed while hosting an on-campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The event had been part of Kirk’s American Comeback Tour, and during it, he was debating various social and political topics with audience members when a shot rang out and struck him in the neck.

According to videos from the scene in the seconds leading up to Kirk’s murder, the 31-year-old right-wing figure was debating mass shootings and gun violence at the time. At one point, a member of the audience said this to Kirk:

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?”

To which he responded:

“Too many.”

The unnamed debater went on to claim that five transgender individuals had perpetrated mass shootings in the US over the past decade, before moving on to question Kirk about how many mass shooters there have been overall in the last ten years in the country. At that point, Kirk uttered what would end up being his final words:

“Counting or not counting gang violence?”

Seconds later, he was shot in the neck.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but later pronounced dead. He leaves behind a wife, Erika Frantzve, and the couple’s two young children.

Per CNN, cops believe the shot was taken from roughly 200 yards away. Police were unable to immediately capture the shooter in the chaotic aftermath of the assassination. As of late Wednesday night, they had interrogated two persons of interest but ultimately released them both.
