Mackenzie Shirilla — the killer driver from the new Netflix documentary The Crash — wants to get out of jail, and she hopes a certain celebrity can help her!
As we’ve reported, Mackenzie is currently serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life after killing 20-year-old Dominic Russo and 19-year-old Davion Flanagan when she intentionally drove 100 mph into a brick wall in July 2022. The convicted murderer maintains she never intended to kill her boyfriend and friend, has no memory of the fatal crash, and passed out due to POTS, a chronic condition that can cause dizziness and fainting.

Mackenzie has tried to appeal her case three times, but all her attempts have failed. She’s eligible for parole in 2037. However, she is hoping Kim Kardashian can come to her rescue before then!
In an undated call from the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center in Ohio obtained by People on Friday, Mackenzie talks with someone about the media attention surrounding her case — including a reference to an interview with Dominic’s dad. The 21-year-old then suggests that Kim may have seen all the news coverage, saying:
“Well, maybe Kim Kardashian’s seen.”
To which the other person on the line replies:
“Yeah, maybe Kim will, now that it’s, like, all over. I was like, I mean, that’s the only thing that might be good about the whole media thing. Maybe Kim will see it.”
As you know, the reality star often advocates for people she thinks were wrongfully convicted or those who have demonstrated rehabilitation. Additionally, she has been pursuing a legal career for several years, but has not passed the California bar exam yet. Despite that, Mackenzie still wants Kimmy Kakes to be her lawyer! Yes, really! She expressed on the call:
“I don’t know. You have to figure out because I’m real nervous and I want Kim Kardashian to be my lawyer.”
The person noted Kim “works hard” to help “innocent people get out of jail” before adding:
“We’re gonna have her get you out.”
And to try to convince Kim, Mackenzie told the caller:
“Tell her I buy all her SKIMS and I only wear SKIMS.”
Appealing to the mogul’s wallet is one way to do it. However, there is one problem with Mackenzie’s plan! As we said, Kim is not an attorney yet! She can’t practice law since she hasn’t passed the bar exam! The best she could do is push for Mackenzie’s release — but she doesn’t want to! A source close to Kim told TMZ on Friday night that the SKIMS founder only supports people she thinks were wrongfully convicted and individuals in prison who have demonstrated rehabilitation and deserve a second chance. Mackenzie, according to the insider, doesn’t fall into either of those categories for Kim! Oof! Mackenzie’s going to be disappointed by that response!
