Paris Hilton Celebrates Shutdown Of Boarding School She Attended As A Teen Where She Was ‘Stripped’ Of All ‘Human Rights’

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

Paris Hilton is celebrating the fact that a nightmare from her past is finally coming to an end.

On Monday, The Simple Life alum took to X (Twitter) to share the news that the Provo Canyon School’s Springville Campus has OFFICIALLY been shut down after the Utah Department of Health and Human Services revoked their operating license amid an ongoing lawsuit.

She wrote:

“I’ve been waiting years to write this. The place that hurt me, and countless children before and after me, will no longer be allowed to operate. The children inside are going to be removed. The dream I’ve had to protect future generations from the abuse I endured is finally happening #ShutDownPCS #Survivor”

The Stars Are Blind singer has been open in the past about being sent to the controversial boarding school as a teen, where she says she was “verbally, mentally, and physically abused on a daily basis,” “cut off from the outside world,” and “stripped of all [her] human rights.”

She notably testified before the Utah Senate in 2021 in a bid to get the school shut down. And now five years later, her efforts have paid off. On Instagram, Paris opened up more about the decision:

“The news I’ve been fighting and praying for is finally here. Last night, the State of Utah officially revoked Provo Canyon School’s Springville campus license. After years of survivors bravely speaking out and refusing to be silenced, the children inside will finally be removed. This is something I’ve dreamed of for so long. There are no words to describe what it feels like to become the person your younger self so desperately needed. If I could go back and tell that little girl that one day she’d help protect other children from experiencing what she went through, she wouldn’t believe it.

That’s so heartbreakingly touching. Paris added:

“While nothing can erase the trauma so many of us endured, today is a powerful step toward protecting future generations. To every survivor who shared their story, every advocate who stood beside us, and everyone who believed us — this moment belongs to all of us. I am endlessly grateful for every single person who helped make this happen. Thank you. #ISeeYouSurvivor #LegislationIsHot #TroubledTeenIndustry #ProvoCanyon #TTI”

According to ABC4 Utah, the controversial school, which claims to offer treatments for teens battling mental health and addiction challenges, was cited in a July 6 notice for multiple instances of failing to comply with mandates set in place to protect clients. According to the multiple news outlets, the school was cited for several incidents dating back to 2025 of inadequate staff-to-client ratios, neglect, engaging in unnecessary restraint and aggressive physical contact with a client, and more.

The shutdown took effect on Monday, and the school reportedly has 15 days to request a hearing before the Department of Health & Human Services. More details on the decision (below):
