An influencer has been murdered by her estranged husband after making disturbing claims about him online.
On July 11, Sara Gilson posted a video to TikTok about her soon-to-be ex-husband Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey allegedly being a pedophile. She made the allegations while taking part in the ongoing trend, in which social media users pretend to sit down for an interview with Netflix for a documentary about various topics. Hers happened to be about her ex’s alleged disgusting behavior. She wrote above footage of herself sitting down in a chair:
“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile.”

Sara added in the caption that, “I wish I was joking.” See the shocking clip (below):

Two weeks later, tragedy struck. Sara and Jeremiah reportedly died from gunshot wounds in her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, on Thursday night. According to KTUL, officers responded at around 11:15 p.m. after a child who lived at the home called 911. When police arrived at the scene, they found both Sara and Jeremiah dead.
A family member identified the pair and alleged to Tulsa’s News Pulse that Jeremiah broke into the home, shot and killed Sara, and then took his own life. However, police have not yet officially named the incident as a murder-suicide. They stressed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, though. The child at the home was also not hurt during the fatal shooting.
What an awful situation…
Years before her death, court records viewed by People revealed that Sara filed two protective orders against Jeremiah in 2021. Both were reportedly dismissed because the content creator didn’t appear at the hearing. Then The Oklahoman reported she filed an emergency protective order against Jeremiah on June 10, claiming he had a gun, threatened suicide, “and went on the run.” This time she was successful in obtaining one. He was ordered out of their home and to stay 100 yards away from Sara. Weeks later, the protective order was extended through August 24.
People reported that the same day that Sara filed, another woman requested a separate protective order for her 15-year-old daughter against Jeremiah. The protective order was also extended on June 23 through August 24. Per The Oklahoman, the mother claimed her teen played on the youth basketball team Jeremiah coached, and he kissed and touched her daughter before getting caught by another coach. The woman further claimed the teenager told her that Jeremiah engaged in additional inappropriate behavior, including sending her messages, inviting her to his hotel room during a tournament trip, and offering her money “to keep her quiet.” WTF…
Sara leaves behind two kids from a previous marriage. Our hearts go out to them following this horrific incident.
