Talk about a rude awakening!
Kristin Davis is getting candid about the body-image struggles she faced while filming Sex and the City, and some of the shockingly insensitive comments fans made to her face.
The actress, 61, reunited with her on-screen husband Evan Handler on her podcast Are You a Charlotte?, where the former co-stars opened up about their experiences with body image and the public scrutiny that came with starring in the hit HBO series decades ago.

Kristin got real about her eating habits during the show’s earlier seasons, revealing that her approach to food was far from healthy. Recalling one particularly hot summer, she admitted:
“There was a time earlier in the show where you can see my ribs — like I had dieted. It was like later in the season, and it was one of those hot summers, and I just remember I just ate M&Ms. I just ate M&Ms like for a couple weeks. I don’t know why I didn’t lose my mind or whatever, and like I have no breasts left, like it’s just like bones.”
She clarified:
“What I mean is that I wasn’t eating any real food.”
Yikes!
Davis explained that she had gotten the idea from ballet dancers, whom she believed survived on cigarettes and candy bars. She recalled:
“It wasn’t healthy. And I did go to this acupuncturist one time. He was like, ‘Don’t put that in your mouth.’ And I was like, ‘Why not? It’s all I eat.’ Because I had read that ballet dancers smoke cigarettes and eat candy bars. So I was like, ‘Well, if they can do it, I can do it.’ But I wasn’t smoking a cigarette.”
The star also felt costume designer Patricia Field struggled with her curves during an era when straight silhouettes were fashionable. As Kristin put it:
“…[Field] was just so frustrated with my curves because at the time when we started 1998 or whatever it was, 1997, you know, everything was straight. I’ve never been straight, nothing, no amount of dieting.”
But here’s where things get REALLY uncomfortable!

Handler, 65, who joined the series in 2002 as Charlotte’s divorce lawyer before becoming her love interest and second husband, remembered fans approaching him in New York City to say this to him on the street:
“You look so much fatter on the show.”
EXCUSE US?! Who says that?!
Unfortunately, Kristin revealed she heard the same thing for years:
“They would say it to me as well. Evan, for years and years, this is all they would say to me. But yes, I went through that for quite some time also. Yes, it’s very difficult.”
Oof!!
Being a beloved TV star shouldn’t mean having to endure strangers commenting on your body. Some fans seriously need a lesson in manners!!!
