It’s going to be a sad February 14th this year in the Middle East.
Iranian authorities have banned the production of Valentine’s Day gifts this yeas as they see the holiday as a harmful spread of Western culture into their midst.
The union that covers printing works owners have been sent specific instruction not to make any sort of gifts that make mention of the holiday or are covered in symbols like hearts and red roses. The union’s head, Ali Nikou Sokhan, points out that their culture has their own days to celebrate love, telling sources:
“Honoring foreign celebrations is the spread of Western culture. Our country has an ancient civilization and various days to honor kindness, love and affection.”
Wow. Feel the disdain in that sentence, huh? They can’t even get on board with us to celebrate a day which is just about spreading love. What kind of message does that send out?
