It’s the end of a political era – and the dawn of some serious uncertainty.
Kim Jong Il, the dictator of North Korea, had a heart attack on Saturday and died. According to media from North Korea, Kim was traveling by train when he fell ill and sadly, there was nothing to be done for him.
The death of Kim Jong leaves the country in the hands of his third son, Kim Jong Eun, but this leaves some of the progress made by his father in a dangerous position, especially the country’s relations with the U.S. and South Korea. This young man is only in his late 20s and hasn’t had that much time to develop a power base. Still, the responsibility is on him now and he must do with it as he sees fit.
Let’s hope for the best.
