Good!
The fallout for Rush Limbaugh‘s recent comments that a Georgetown law student and contraception activist Sandra Fluke was a “slut” and a “prostitute” for testifying before Congress about the health benefits of birth control pills is still going strong, and now, his syndicator, Premiere Networks, has withdrawn its national advertising spots from his talk show for two weeks!
According to an internal memo:
“We are suspending the requirement to run barter spots for two weeks, March 12th and March 19th, for our News/Talk affiliates only.”
However, according to Limbaugh’s spokesperson:
“Premiere Networks announcement does not involve the cancellation of any advertising, local or national, purchased within The Rush Limbaugh Show. The advertisers using this contractual relationship are not buying program sponsorships, but rather a fixed number of audience impressions on those radio stations. Premiere’s announcement today temporarily stops placing these spots on Premiere affiliated local news-talk radio stations for the next two weeks. It does not affect national advertising in The Rush Limbaugh Show.”
Is that right?
Because sources at Clear Channel, which owns Premiere networks, are reporting that 141 companies have asked that their advertising not air during his show, which includes 21st Century Insurance, Hotels.com, Ace Hardware, Honda, Advil, and Preparation H!
Yeah. His spokesperson may want to re-phrase that last statement!
Ch-ch-check out his awful, original comment (above)!
Yeah. Forgive us for being LESS than sympathetic to his current situation.
Enough is enough, and he needs to know that he can’t say every disgusting, bigoted and horrendous remark that comes into his disgusting, bigoted and horrendous head!
