Dark Shadows Will Be A Modest Hit This Weekend

Dark Shadows certainly won’t be beating The Avengers at the box office anytime soon, but if the midnight screenings are any sign, then it should do just fine this weekend.
The Tim Burton directed comedy grossed $550,000 at midnight screenings on Thursday night. The Marvel blockbuster raked in $18.7 miillion, but the movies aren’t really comparable in box office expectations.
Analysts are predicting the country will spend between $30 and $35 million to see Johnny Depp play Barnabas Collins, while The Avengers might make anywhere from $85 million to $110 million.
The reviews aren’t great for Shadows, but the adaptation of the classic soap opera should perform okay anyway.
