They say all publicity is good publicity, but we’re not so sure about that right now. We actually think this guy’s going to lose a lot of money after this stunt.
Adam Carolla decided to tell a New York Post reporter that, compared to men, women stink at comedy. While promoting his book No Taco Bell Material, the former Man Show host was asked if he hated working with women and answered:
“No. But they make you hire a certain number of chicks, and they’re always the least funny on the writing staff. The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I’m just gonna tell her, ‘Be a staff writer for a sitcom. Because they’ll have to hire you, they can’t really fire you, and you don’t have to produce that much. It’ll be awesome.'”
Carolla stood by his statement and proceeded to compare selecting comedy writers to picking players for a basketball team by saying:
“When you’re picking a basketball team, you’ll take the brother over the guy with the yarmulke. Why? Because you’re playing the odds. When it comes to comedy, of course there’s Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥super-funny chicks. But if you’re playing the odds? No.”
To top things off, the comedian was unapologetic for bashing the LGBT community on stage and told the ladies of The Talk on Tuesday that “nice doesn’t get laughs.” Using the excuse that he’s just a comedian, he continued:
“Nice doesn’t get laughs, especially on stage, that’s what I’m saying…When did we start holding comedians up to the level of politicians and school teachers? We’re comedians. We’re supposed to say these things.”
If that’s how he feels, then we guess nobody has to be nice to him in return. He’s currently facing major backlash for his comments and not just from us either. Girls creator Lena Dunham snapped back with a tweet reading:
“Wait, Adam Carolla, is he the one who did the voice of the parrot in Aladdin??? He makes me giggle.”
Writer and TV news producer Jenny Johnson took to Twitter to write:
“The biggest impact this whole Adam Carolla scandal has had is discovering 95% of people have no idea how to spell ‘Carolla.'”
Cartoonist Danielle Corsetto delivered this delicious burn:
“In an ironic twist, ‘women aren’t funny’ ranked number one funniest thing Adam Carolla has ever said.”
LOL! Sorry Adam, but we think those digs from female critics were pretty funny. Guess your theory is just a bunch of bullshizz after all!
