The President Announces Proposals To Control Gun Violence Will Be READY By January...And He Plans To PUSH Them Into LAW!

He’s more than keeping his word!
He is NOT messing around! Nor should he be!
In the wake of a 20-year-old gunman’s massacre of 27 people, 20 of them children, at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut Friday afternoon, President Barack Obama promised the devastated community that “if there is even one thing that we can do” to prevent something like this happening again that “we have a deep obligation, all of us, to try.”
And he as ALREADY started doing just that, by announcing today that Vice President Joe Biden will be spearheading a multi-agency group to tackle the problem of widespread gun violence in the country…with proposals ready to be pushed into legislation by JANUARY!
As the President explained:

“This is not some Washington commission. This is not something where folks are going to be studying the issue for six months and publishing a report that gets read and then pushed aside. This is a team that has a very specific task to pull together real reforms right now.”

Furthermore, he proclaimed that the complexities of gun law legislation “can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing,” and that the people of this country need “access to mental health care at least as easy as access to a gun.” He also urged us all to get ready to examine our “culture that all to often glorifies guns and violence…and any actions that we must take must begin inside the home and inside our hearts.”
Just incredible – and VERY necessary – news!
And POTUS is not alone!
California Senator Dianne Feinstein is already moving to reinstate the state’s assault weapons ban that expired in 2004, while White House spokesman Jay Carney elaborated on Obama’s plans, which include closing “the so-called gun show loophole which allows people to buy weapons without going through the background checks that are standard when you purchase [in retail].”
And U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder also agreed:

“There’s a range of things we need to do, [with proposals from individuals] aren’t always thought of in the law enforcmeent sphere [including the departments of Education and Health and Human Services].”

Sadly, it shouldn’t have to take such an Earth shattering tragedy such as the one the poor community of Newtown has had to endure for policies like this to finally be recognized, but we’re comforted to know that so many key players in the political process are refusing to let the memories of those poor people lost be tarnished by not doing everything they can to ensure that something this monstrous EVER happens again.
May they all R.I.P.
