For the first time in their 16 year history of creating AIDS t-shirts, this year’s Maison Martin Margiela tee will be in Japanese.
Why the change?
The fashion house explains:

When this T-Shirt is worn it is no longer possible for others to read the text printed on it (most of the text is on the inside at the back of the V-neckline). A dialogue on HIV/AIDS is there encouraged once another asks the wearer to explain what is written on their T-Shirt.

For those of you wondering, the limited edition tee reads: “THERE IS MORE ACTION TO BE DONE TO FIGHT AIDS THAN TO WEAR THIS T-SHIRT BUT IT├óΓé¼ΓäóS A GOOD START”.
Such a creative idea!
MMM’s shirt will be available starting December 1st, with a percentage of the sales benefiting the French organization AIDES.
