Army Uniforms Get A Female Touch

Great news for women serving our country!
After years of offering unisex combat uniforms, the Army is finally designing ACUs for the ladies.
The new uniforms, which will be tested in January, feature subtle but necessary changes including:

Vents in back that provide space for a woman’s bust
Narrowing of the shoulders
Replacement of trouser drawstrings with elastic waistbands
Adjustment of waist-to-hip ratios
Alterations to the front and back rise
Lengthening of the coat over the hips
Repositioning of rank insignias, sleeve pockets, & elbow and knee patches

Upgrade!
However, the Army wants you to know that these tweaks are in no way meant to make their soldiers look sexy.
Major Sequana Robinson, the assistant product manager for soldier clothing, says:

“The unisex uniform was a little bit baggy. The goal is not to have female soldiers accentuate their curves, but… it alleviates some of the excess material”

If the Army Uniform Board green lights the prototypes, new uniforms could be available as soon as 2012.
Fingers crossed!
