Your favorite glossies are about to go live…on YouTube!
Starting April 15, Hearst is bringing five of its girlie mags to life with the launch of a “fashion and beauty entertainment network” Hello Style channel on YouTube.
The jump to digital is part of a $100 million YouTube investment in an effort to move away from poorly produced fashion centric shows on the site and create higher quality, advertiser friendly content.
Out of the nine-figure investment, Hearst received a cool $10 million in funding to kick-start production for the channel.
John Loughlin, EVP General manager of Hearst, is thrilled to expand the publisher’s online presence:
“Video is going to become an increasingly important medium. Our goal is not to become flat-footed in this space.”
We couldn’t agree more!! And apparently so did VP of Business Development for Hearst Digital Media Kimberly Lau who adds:
“A lot of this [content] is TV quality, but certainly, the budgets and the time are not TV”.
While it may not be TV budget, we├óΓé¼Γäóre thinking $10 million is a LOT to play with especially in the online world! We’re getting excited just thinking about all the possibilities!
We think this collaboration is a no-brainer and look forward to some our favorite features such as Cosmo’s Sexy vs. Skanky!
Check out a teaser for Hello Style (above) and tell us what kind of programming U wanna see on the new channel!!!
