Yay! Our government accomplished something!
This should definitely help Michelle Obama‘s anti-obesity movement.
On December 1, Congress passed the Hunger-Free Kids Act 264-157!
The bill not only sets new health and nutritional guidelines for school lunches in an effort to fight the growing obesity epidemic in our country, but also provides free school lunches to those kids who can not afford it.
The bill sets forth a landmark funding effort of $4.5 billion over the course of ten years.
The next stop for the bill is the White House for Obama to sign off on, but all signs point to him doing so as he has been working with the House on a plan to fund the act.
