England’s government wants its citizens to stop smoking, and it’s shelling out £250 million to prove it.
Pharmacies and doctors will be handing out nicotine patches to smokers in an attempt to ween England off of tobacco. The patches release a steady stream of nicotine through the skin, allowing people to get their fix without inhaling smoke.
Currently only 17 per cent of smokers are attempting to quit, down from 32 per cent in 2007, but the government is hoping to boost that number with this new initiative.
This is fantastic! Quiting smoking is no picnic, but maybe with the government’s help more people can kick the habit!!
