Having a parent who struggles with addiction is extremely hard. That’s why Denise Richards makes sure to teach her daughters about addiction so that they can understand their dad Charlie Sheen‘s behavior.
The actress says she’s currently in “a good place” with her ex-husband however, with his recent stunts in the media have left her no choice but to “have a conversation with [her children] about addiction.”
She explains:
“I got a book to read to them. I was just lying to them about so much, and covering up things and totally lying. It was just getting too confusing that I had to sit down with them.
It’s too early [for them to understand]. I told them enough for them to make sense of things that were going on.”
Denise says she also worries about him, but knows he can pull through. She adds:
“He’s the father of our children├óΓé¼┬ª [But] he’s also a survivor. If anyone can pull themselves together, it’s Charlie.”
Bravo to Denise for being honest with her kids about their father. The more they know about drugs and alcohol addiction, the more likely they will avoid it. Hopefully.
