It Was Supposed To Be His Twin Brother!
Okay. So. There was this contest at a charity hockey game. If your ticket number got called, you got a chance to shoot a puck at a hole barely bigger than the puck itself — and if you got it in, you won $50,000.
Well, a number was called, an 11 year old boy takes the shot, nails it from 89 feet.
The next day, the father (feeling some kind of guilt) tells the committee that it was actually the twin brother that took the shot, as the other one didn’t feel like doing it and stepped outside with friends!
That honesty cost them $50 grand.
The company that insured the event, Odds On Promotions of Reno, Nev., said Wednesday that due to “contractual breaches and legal implications” it was unable to pay the claim. Instead, the company said it would donate $20,000 to youth hockey in Minnesota in the boys’ names.
“We greatly respect the eventual honesty of the Smith family. Although we’re unable to pay the claim on Nate’s incredible shot, we are confident our donation will foster a positive environment for present and future youth hockey in Minnesota.”
But, at least $20k is going to charity because of it, so not all is lost!
Though, we can’t help but feel that the group offering up the money was super relieved that they didn’t have to pay the full sum because of a technicality like that. They probably thought nobody would ever make that shot!
Sorry, kid!
