Everybody knows that being a mom, especially with a newborn, means that getting a full night’s sleep is pretty much out the window.
But, there are still ways to find time to rest so that your body can refuel and get the energy it so desperately needs.
Actress, Ali Landry who has just given birth to her second child, Marcelo, in October shares her tips on how to stay well-rested:

Ah, sleep, I remember you fondly. Seems like ages since I got a full night’s sleep, and felt that refreshing burst of energy it gives you in the morning. Now it’s all a distant memory. Parents of newborns know full well that sleep is practically a foreign concept those first few months, and coping with sleep deprivation and exhaustion isn’t easy. I always heard that whenever the baby is sleeping you should be sleeping too, but that’s easier said than done. We all live pretty busy lives, and there’s always something that needs our attention that we think is more important than catching up on our sleep, but the truth is nothing is more important than being as well-rested as you can be under the circumstances. Otherwise it’s pretty hard to function; you just go about your day like a zombie. I mentioned in an earlier post that I take herbal remedies and my encapsulated placenta, which really help me boost my energy. I also just started working out again this week, so that’s been a big help too. I also find that it’s essential to drink lots and lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and alert. A good way to get a couple of hours of extra sleep in the morning is to have pumped milk ready for someone else (like your husband or grandma) to feed the baby while you catch up on some z’s. Don’t feel guilty about doing this, it’s OK to ask for help. We’ve already done something pretty amazing bringing a new life into the world and we’re allowed to give ourselves a break from time to time.

Good call, Ali! Being prepared and taking some time out for yourself is exactly what the doctor ordered!
