No one likes to see their kids sick!
Obvi, keeping your child’s immune system strong is SUPER important. Perezcious mommy Roxanne from Glendale wants to do everything she can to keep her honeys as healthy as possible. So, she asks Perezitos‘s nutrition expert Margaux J. Rathbun:
“I’ve been hearing a lot about the health benefits of probiotics. Should I be incorporating these “friendly bacteria” into my child’s diet?”
Here’s Margaux’s answer:
“Absolutely! Those ├óΓé¼┼ôfriendly bugs├óΓé¼┬¥ or ├óΓé¼┼ôgood bacteria├óΓé¼┬¥ are important for not only promoting a healthy digestive system in your child, but for keeping them well from infections, asthma, colds, and other ailments. It boosts your child’s immune system and helps to fight off the “bad” bacteria.
Probiotics can be obtained by eating foods such as yogurt, fermented fruits and vegetables, sauerkraut, and miso. You can also have your child drink probiotic beverages, like So Delicious Cultured Coconut Milk. Many other companies are now making all-natural probiotic beverages just for kids that are tasty and nutritious. Your kids won’t even know they are drinking a healthy drink! Just check the dairy aisle at your local health food store.
Some parents find it is easier to have their kids take a probiotic supplement but you should note that not all probiotics are the same. If you are supplementing, be sure you do your homework or consult a natural health practitioner to determine which probiotic product is right for your child. Always store probiotics in a dry and cool place. I keep mine in the refrigerator next to my coconut water so I├óΓé¼Γäóll remember to take it every morning!”
Thanks Marg!
Now that we think about it, we could go for a little probiotic drink right now.
