Take that, MPAA!
Despite its (un)rating, The Weinstein Company’s documentary, Bully, faired well for a small film.
Thanks to the media blitz and extra attention, Bully made $23,000 in five locations this weekend. This was on top of a huge box office draw overall, with Hunger Games on its second weekend.
AMC allowing kids to see Bully with their parents’ permission was sure to help as well.
Rumors also state that TWC will release a PG-13 version to go along with the original but the production company debunked this, despite schools and churches reaching out for a toned down Bully as well.
Hopefully, more kids will have the opportunity to see this flick!
