Without a doubt, Tim Curry‘s most famous role was the eccentric, glamorous Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 science fiction musical film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
He originally played the mad scientist in stage plays across London, Los Angeles, and Broadway before taking on the character for the big screen in what’s now known as THE cult classic movie.

Now, following the news of his death at the age of 80, we’re looking back at his work in the trippy sci-fi, and we found this gem of an interview from 1974. As shared by Facebook and Instagram account Nostalgic Nebula, Tim says of the character:
“I play Frank-N-Furter, who is a kind of new variation on the mad scientist of horror films that we all know and love. It is parody, but it also, I play it and think it as a kind of grisly reality. And Frank-N-Furter, as a variation on Frankenstein, is obsessed with image and the way that things look. I see him and play him as a kind of grisly, real freak.”
