Jason Collins knew that coming out as an active gay member of the NBA would be a huge deal. We’re just not so sure he was expecting a phone call from the President himself!
It’s true!
Not only did Jason get a tweet from the First Lady, but he also got a phone call from President Obama! The Prez said he was ‘impressed by his courage’ and offered him his support in his big decision to go public! Now if only Obama would do something about the whole gay marriage thing…
Anyway, here’s what Michelle said:

We are SO glad that the positive support has been vastly outnumbering the haters! It took a lot of guts to do what Jason did, and it will ALWAYS be viewed as a positive thing, no matter how many bigots there are out there!
We do have one question about all this though — how does the President call you? Does his team contact someone like your agent or something, or does Ol’ Barack just use his power to find your cell number and call you directly?? Do you know it’s him when you answer, or does someone say, ‘Jason, I have the President for you’??
We’ll find out someday when he finally calls us! LOLz!
