ABC is fixing to show veteran news anchor Katie Couric to the door!!
Sadly, we don’t mean the door to a room filled with gold, precious gems, and an endless supply of Hot Pockets!!
We mean they’re considering FIRING her!!!
Her newish daytime talkshow, Katie, has been a ratings nightmare, so this could be the end of her long and glorious run on the small screen!
One studio executive in the know wasn’t afraid to dish out cold, hard truths.
The exec revealed:
“[Katie is] an unmitigated disaster. One of the biggest failures ever in syndication. Terrible ratings, no growth, shouldn’t be on the air. Where did it miss the mark? Let’s start with her, she is dreadfully boring. The show offers nothing new to the audience, nothing to say.”
Aww! Katie is obviously a TV legend, but in today’s biz NOTHING is more important than ratings and ad revenue!
A source close to ABC was nicer with their phrasing, but basically expressed the same sentiment.
That source admitted:
“While all television is going through a difficult time and programming is having a hard time finding its niche, Katie’s new talk show does not live up its expectations. Whatever constraints Katie experienced anchoring ‘Evening News’ [it is] certainly taking its toll, and her return to daytime has backfired.”
The chances of her show coming back for a third season are virtually nil!!
Poor girl!!!
If these rumors are true, we hope the millions and millions of dollars she’s worth holds her over until she finds a new job!!
