New details have come to light in the wake of Ariana Grande’s most recent announcement.
On Sunday, a rep for the Petal hitmaker revealed that after she concludes her Eternal Sunshine Tour on September 1, she will be “taking a step back from visibility” amid “endless, ongoing scrutiny.” The rep said:
“[Ariana] looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

In recent years, noise surrounding Ariana’s health has become increasingly deafening, despite the 7 Rings singer pleading with fans to stop “commenting on people’s bodies.” She said in a 2023 TikTok:
“There are many different kinds of beautiful. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful … You never know what someone is going through. So even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with, and you never know, so be gentle with each other and with yourselves.”

A close source went on to emphasize the 33-year-old’s health in a separate statement to People on Sunday:
“She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night.”

It was also confirmed that Ariana has backed out of the West End’s production Sunday in the Park with George, which was set to debut in summer 2027.

In the wake of the shocking announcements, the hashtag #WeLoveYouAriana trended on X (Twitter) with a wave of support flooding in from fans and industry members alike.
We can probably say that everyone really just wants what’s best for Ariana, so taking time for herself after working nonstop for YEARS doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
On Monday, an insider spoke to Page Six about the Hate That I Made You Love Me singer’s upcoming hiatus, which the length of was not specified. They revealed:
“She’s been happy performing her recent shows and being back on stage, but she’s been overworked. She’s been nonstop and it’s taking a toll. She’s never handled the public scrutiny well and constant chatter about her weight [doesn’t help].”
A second insider alleged the Kiss Me singer’s decision has more to do with the “nonstop public scrutiny” surrounding her appearance than her workload:
“She’s been in a really good place on tour. She loves doing it and it’s been positive.”
They noted her decision to leave Sunday in the Park with George was “well thought out.”

A third source claimed the Oscar-nominated actress has just reached a point where she needs to prioritize herself above all else:
“She’s been working nonstop for a long time and finally got to a point where she realized she needed to give herself permission to step back for a while. She’ll be spending time with her family and friends, with loved ones, and just enjoying some well-deserved downtime.”

The third source echoed the second’s in that leaving the West End production “wasn’t an easy decision at all.”
“She went back and forth over it because she was genuinely excited about it, but in the end she felt it was the right decision for where she is at this point in her life.”
As for when she may return to the spotlight, the source dished:
“Right now there isn’t some set timeline for when she’ll be back. She’s just taking things one step at a time and isn’t putting pressure on herself to make those decisions yet.”

The insider went on to note that Ariana has felt the stress of multiple different events that have occurred in recent years:
“As far as what led to this decision, it wasn’t one specific incident. Between everything she’s taken on over the past few years and all the attention that’s been on her lately, she felt it was finally time to slow down and put herself first for a while.”
As we know, in addition to starring in Wicked and Wicked: For Good in 2024 and 2025 respectively, the Yes, And? singer has released two albums in Eternal Sunshine and Petal, both accompanied by multiple music videos, a deluxe album and short film in Brighter Days Ahead, filmed Focker-In-Law with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, suffered criticism over her friendship with Cynthia Erivo, been charged by a creep on the red carpet, been the target of hacks, launched a world tour, worked on her makeup brand r.e.m. beauty, lost her beloved Nonna, and been at the center of a controversial relationship with Ethan Slater.

The third source went on to reveal the We Can’t Be Friends singer is “really touched by all the love and support she’s received and is incredibly grateful for it.”
