Ellen DeGeneres may be the next great soothsayer of our time…
Because the talk show host TOTALLY predicted the Twitter server crash that rocked the 2014 Oscars!
Her star-studded selfie – featuring Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o, and more – sent the social media site into a tailspin and now we’re finding out the entire bit wasn’t even planned that way!
At the post-show Governors Ball, Ellen revealed:
“I thought it would crash. And then Jared came running over to be in it. And Angie got it in. I didn’t expect all that.”
Even better..the original idea was to cut nominee Meryl Streep out of the picture completely, so the final uploaded product would just be Ellen:
“That was going to be the joke. But it doesn’t matter. It was just great.”
The best part about the pic, though, is Lupita’s brother Peter Nyong’o photobombing the entire thing!
The Best Supporting Actress winner revealed that her bro completely stole the show:
“I think that’s his win for sure. He got into the most famous selfie in the world. I’m glad I could have facilitated that.”
