Super Bowl 50 might still be two years away, but the NFL already has people talking after revealing its official logo earlier today, and football aficionados couldn’t help but notice one MAJOR difference!
At first glance, nothing seems out of the ordinary as the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy sits in front of a giant, golden 50! So what exactly was the big deal?
Well it turns out the NFL decided to shake things up by ditching the roman numerals and going with an average, ordinary 50! So instead of going with Super Bowl L, they went with Super Bowl 50!
While it’s not 100% clear why the league went with the change, one theory is Super Bowl L simply didn’t have enough flair!
But for those of you who are HUGE fans of roman numerals, don’t worry! They’ll be back just in time for Super Bowl LI in 2017!
Ch-ch-check out the original regional logo for Sa Francisco (below)!
