Lindsay Lohan has been accused of stealing again??
How shocking, LOLz!
LiLo and her brother, Michael Jr., are reportedly trying to raise money to start a “social shopping community” called Vigme.
The idea behind the project is that fans will be able to see what’s in Lindsay’s closet. Then, if they decide to buy anything that she already owns, Lindsay would make money off that purchase.
But last year, the starlet was apparently on board with a different project that did the same exact thing!
She allegedly tweeted about a startup called Spotted Friend in July, and the website even listed the business as “A Fima Potik & Lindsay Lohan Production.”
Lindsay, her brother, and their business partner Christopher Roth have since cut their ties with Spotted Friend to work on Vigme, but they’re now being accused of stealing Spotted Friend’s intellectual property.
Potik sent the Lohans and Roth a cease and desist letter, writing:
“Prior to their involvement in Vigme, [the Lohans and Roth] were members of Spotted Friend LLC, a social commerce startup that was founded by Fima Potik in 2013. It is Mr. Potik ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ not the Lohans ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that created and developed the idea for a mobile application that allows users to access celebrities’ and friends’ ├óΓé¼╦£virtual closets’ and to directly purchase fashion items and accessories from these ├óΓé¼╦£virtual closets.’ In 2014, after being members of the company for over a year, without any warning, the Lohans and Mr. Roth launched a competing company and improperly took proprietary information and intellectual property from Spotted Friend to start the new business. We intend to take all action necessary .├óΓé¼ΓÇ░.├óΓé¼ΓÇ░. to protect Spotted Friend’s and Mr. Potik’s legal rights and commercial interests.”
Yikes!
The Lohans’ attorney was quick to reply, and basically claims Potik is just trying to use Lindsay because she is famous.
He wrote:
“Allegations of any impropriety in Lindsay Lohan’s business relationship concerning this Web site are inaccurate and clearly designed to capitalize on her worldwide recognition as a fashion icon.”
Sounds pretty messy to us!
And if this doesn’t get settled soon, it looks Miz Lohan could be taken back to court.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next…
