The recently released deposition given by Robin Thicke in the court proceedings centered around the originality of Blurred Lines in comparison to Marvin Gaye‘s Got To Give It Up, which has Robin and Pharrell squaring off against Marvin’s estate, has left us speechless.
In addition to admitting to having had drug and alcohol problems in the past, Robin also confessed in the deposition that he didn’t do a “sober interview” for a whole year.
At one point in the deposition, one of the prosecutors asked Robin if he considered himself an honest person, and if he chooses when he tells the truth.
This is how he responded to those two questions:
“No. That’s why I’m separated…I told my wife the truth. That’s why she left me.”
Now, in the context of the deposition, which you can read in full HERE, it’s unclear what “truth” Robin told his wife.
Perhaps the truth was related the veracity of the cheating rumors that were circulating around him?
Or perhaps it was the truth of his problems with his drug and alcohol abuse?
Either way, this deposition is pretty shocking. We had no idea he was struggling with drug and alcohol related problems.
