So long, farewell. You done.
The Minnesota Vikings placed Adrian Peterson on the Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission list early Wednesday morning.
That means that he can’t play football and he actually must “remain away from all team activities.”
Why such a serious punishment? Because he’s facing a felony child abuse charge and that’s a serious deal.
The Vikings owners released a statement that said:
“While we were trying to make a balanced decision (Monday), after further reflection we have concluded that this resolution is best for the Vikings and for Adrian. We want to be clear: we have a strong stance regarding the protection and welfare of children, and we want to be sure we get this right.”
After how poorly NFL commissioner Roger Goodell handled the whole Ray Rice situation, we’re sure everyone in the NFL wants to make sure they get things right.
What’s crazy is Peterson is seriously one of the best, if not the best, running back playing ball today.
So that really shows that the Vikings at least are putting the welfare of children before a winning season and we think that’s pretty great.
Finally, someone in football got something right. Oh, and Nike got it right too:
“Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns with the NFL.
We have suspended our contract with Adrian Peterson.”
Boom.
Don’t be awful and violent to other people.
