Adrian Peterson, NFL running back, is currently suspended from the Minnesota Vikings.
He’s facing child abuse charges for the overzealous disciplining of his son with a switch (thin tree branch). After the whole Ray Rice domestic violence scandal, the NFL was closely watched for how they’d react.
Peterson ended up being suspended and forced to stay away from all team activities.
Now he’s due to appear in court this morning for his first hearing.

According to a spokesperson for his lawyer, Adrian will be pleading not guilty.
That’s because he truly feels he didn’t do anything illegal, and that he was disciplining his son in the same way he was disciplined as a child (which a lot of people feel doesn’t make it right, though, but that’s up for the court to decide).
It’s not clear whether he’ll be entering a plea or setting a trial date. He’s facing up to two years in prison!!
We’ll be innerested to hear what a court has to say. Let’s hope they handle this better than the NFL has been!
