That First Texas Nurse Who Contracted Ebola Is CURED!

We’re seeing more and more that just because you have Ebola that doesn’t mean it’s a death sentence, thank goodness!
Nurse Nina Pham became the first person on American soil to contract the deadly virus, after she was caring for Thomas Duncan in Dallas.
But the nurse is now cured of the illness and hugged President Obama because she survived!

Pham was being treated at the National Institutes of Health outside Washington, and passed five tests, proving she’s free and clear of Ebola. Five is more than normal, but NIH is a teaching institution, so they ran more than was required.
Part of the cure was due to the use of plasma from Dr. Kent Brantly, the doctor who was infected in Liberia and flown to the US, but was cured.
The other nurse who treated Duncan and became infected, Amber Vinson, is still being treated at Emory University Hospital, but she “is making good progress.” The best news is that there doesn’t seem to be any more Ebola in her blood, though they aren’t going to discharge her yet.
While there’s no “cure” to just pass around for Ebola, and there’s still a threat for infection, it’s good to hear that more people are beating this disease than succumbing!
