This is an inneresting decision by Billboard Magazine.
Joss Stone, the British singer with the sexy, throaty vocal style, has been named the mag’s Reggae Artist Of The Year for her album Water For Your Soul.

That album was also named Billboard’s Reggae Album Of The Year, narrowly beating out Easy Skankin’ In Boston ’78, a live album by none other than Bob Marley and the Wailers!
But there’s trouble in music paradise!
At least one Billboard Magazine writer, Steven Horowitz, wasn’t feeling Stone’s conversion to reggae:
“For more than a decade, Joss Stone has been a serial genre-hopper. Switching from R&B to blues, funk to rock, the 28-year-old Brit has powered six albums with soulful vocals beyond her years. The songs are technically impressive, as expected from Stone, but unconvincing.”
It wasn’t only Horowitz, either — fans of the genre were PISSED about Stone’s victory, and they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure (below):

I only recognize Joss Stone songs bc I always think “this white lady’s trying real hard to sing black, must be Joss Stone”. And sure enough.

Joss Stone is not the best anything this or any other year. pic.twitter.com/6HhtygeW5f

As a Reggae connoisseur, this Joss Stone thing is an insult to reggae artists who have been making music for decades & still get no props.
