With an opponent like Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton shouldn’t have to try hard to secure the vote of the Hispanic community.
But just like a parent trying WAY TOO HARD to relate to their kids, the Democratic frontrunner’s campaign team decided to take it one step too far and compared Hillary to the abuelas of the world!
An article titled 7 Things Hillary Clinton Has In Common With Your Abuela was posted on the candidate’s website, which showcased HRC’s abuela-like characteristics — whether it was worrying about her grandkids, or uttering basic Spanish vocab words!

But the target demographic seemed to disagree, as Twitter users fought back at the campaign saying Clinton is #NotMyAbuela!
With some citing the candidate’s economic advantages, and others calling out the article for pandering to Latinos, the general consensus was pretty clear:
Our experiences cannot be equated to those of a rich and privileged white woman. It’s shameful and disrespectful to try #NotMyAbuela

Mi abuela wouldn’t try to buy Latino votes by using Spanish words & trying to seem relatble to struggles she’ll never know #NotMyAbuela

my abuela was a long-suffering,low-wage agricultural worker&mother of 9 who was never afforded your privileges, @HillaryClinton #NotMyAbuela

Latinos aren’t one size fits all. It takes more than a few Spanish words & cute pictures to get the Latino vote. #hillaryabuela #NotMyAbuela

Hillary, you are doing wonderful things. You are an amazing woman. But you’re not an abuela. You’re Hillary. And that’s why we love you!
JUST BE HILLARY!
